Portland, OR, USA

Description

Lightmen Painting is hiring an entry-level painter to join our team in the Portland area.
This role is for someone who wants to learn the trade the right way, work hard, stay coachable, and grow into a strong long-term painter. You do not need years of experience, but you do need a solid attitude, reliability, and the ability to follow direction.

You will assist with residential and commercial painting projects, including prep work, masking, sanding, caulking, priming, brushing, rolling, cleanup, and jobsite organization. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real experience in the field, not just a paycheck for standing around.

We are looking for people who show up, work hard, learn fast, and take pride in improving over time. If you want to build actual skill and become valuable in the trade, this is a strong place to start.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Ability to work on your feet for long periods
  • Able to lift ladders, paint, tools, and materials
  • Comfortable working with your hands
  • Good attitude and ability to work with a team
  • Reliable transportation is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus
  • Basic construction or painting experience is a plus but not required
  • Must be willing to follow safety procedures and jobsite standards

Bonuses

  • Opportunity for raises based on performance
  • Hands-on trade training
  • Opportunity to move into higher-level painter roles
  • Opportunity to grow with a company focused on systems and long-term development
  • Potential for additional responsibilities and leadership growth over time

Benefits

  • On-the-job training
  • Consistent real-world field experience
  • Clear expectations and room to improve
  • Opportunity to build a career in the painting trade
  • Work with an organized team and established systems
  • Flexible opportunity for someone serious about learning

Responsibilities

  • Assist with jobsite preparation and setup
  • Mask, cover, tape, and protect surfaces
  • Sand, scrape, caulk, fill, and prep surfaces for paint
  • Help with brushing, rolling, and basic painting tasks
  • Clean tools, materials, and work areas daily
  • Follow directions from crew leaders and project managers
  • Maintain a clean and professional jobsite
  • Learn proper painting methods, prep standards, and safety practices
  • Show up on time and ready to work
