A formal written estimate, signed agreement, invoice, work order, program agreement, or project contract will control over general website content.

4. Painting Services

Lightmen Painting provides residential, commercial, and specialty painting-related services. These may include interior painting, exterior painting, cabinet painting and refinishing, commercial painting, multifamily and apartment painting, fence staining, paint failure inspections, maintenance painting, project consultation, and related services.

The exact scope of work for any project will be defined in a written estimate, proposal, work order, invoice, service agreement, or other written project document. Any service not listed in the approved written scope is not included unless agreed to in writing.

Project conditions, weather, material availability, surface condition, access, customer changes, unforeseen repairs, substrate failure, moisture issues, previous coatings, structural problems, or other jobsite conditions may affect pricing, scheduling, warranty coverage, and final results.

5. Estimates, Quotes, and Project Approval

Website content, verbal conversations, rough price ranges, calculator outputs, photos, text messages, and informal discussions are not binding estimates unless confirmed in writing by Lightmen Painting.

A project is not scheduled, reserved, or approved until Lightmen Painting has issued an accepted written estimate or agreement and any required deposit, authorization, or signature has been received.

Estimates may be subject to change if:

  • The project scope changes

  • Hidden conditions are discovered

  • Measurements or project details are inaccurate

  • Additional prep, repair, access, or protection is required

  • Material prices change

  • Customer-selected products, colors, or finishes change

  • Weather or jobsite conditions affect the work

  • Work is delayed by the customer or third parties

Lightmen Painting reserves the right to decline any project at our discretion.

6. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for providing accurate project information and reasonable access to the property, work areas, utilities, parking, water, electricity, pets, gates, doors, alarm systems, tenants, building managers, and other access needs.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, customers are responsible for:

  • Removing fragile, valuable, or personal items from work areas

  • Moving small furniture, decor, electronics, window treatments, and wall hangings

  • Securing pets and children away from active work areas

  • Providing access to approved work areas

  • Communicating known hazards, leaks, moisture issues, lead concerns, asbestos concerns, prior coating failures, structural issues, or other relevant property conditions

  • Approving colors, sheens, products, and scope details before work begins

  • Ensuring HOA, landlord, tenant, property manager, or municipal approvals are obtained when required

Lightmen Painting is not responsible for delays, additional costs, or project limitations caused by lack of access, inaccurate information, unapproved colors, third-party delays, or undisclosed property conditions.

7. Colors, Products, Samples, and Finish Expectations

Paint colors, sheens, stains, coatings, and finishes may appear different depending on lighting, surface texture, age of substrate, application method, surrounding colors, digital screens, sample size, existing conditions, and product type.

Customer approval of colors, sheens, samples, stain selections, or product specifications is the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise stated in writing. Lightmen Painting is not responsible for dissatisfaction with a properly applied customer-approved color, sheen, finish, or product.

Touch-ups may not blend perfectly due to lighting, age, sheen, texture, product batch differences, application method, or existing coating conditions.

8. Exterior Condition Reports, Paint Failure Inspections, and Consultations

Lightmen Painting may provide Exterior Condition Reports, paint failure inspections, coating evaluations, maintenance recommendations, or similar consultation services.

These services are visual, practical, painting-related assessments unless otherwise stated in writing. They are not engineering reports, structural inspections, mold inspections, pest inspections, moisture intrusion warranties, environmental testing, legal opinions, insurance reports, or guarantees that all hidden conditions will be identified.

Findings and recommendations are based on visible conditions at the time of inspection. Hidden moisture, rot, substrate movement, improper prior prep, incompatible coatings, construction defects, drainage issues, roof issues, flashing failures, or other concealed conditions may not be visible during the inspection.

9. Lightmen Care Club / Ongoing Exterior Paint Care Programs

Lightmen Painting may offer ongoing exterior paint care, maintenance, monitoring, washing, and scheduled repainting programs, including programs referred to as Lightmen Care Club, LCC, monthly exterior paint care, or similar names.

Program details, pricing, term length, included services, exclusions, cancellation terms, maintenance schedule, repaint timing, and payment obligations will be controlled by the written program agreement.

Unless specifically included in a written agreement, ongoing care programs do not include deck refinishing, fencing or lattice coatings, landscape trimming or pruning, drywall repairs, interior repairs, major carpentry, major rot repair, structural repair, pest damage, hidden moisture correction, roof or gutter repair, or work outside the approved program scope.

Monthly pricing is based on the property, condition, expected maintenance needs, service level, and agreement terms. Failure to make required payments may result in suspension or cancellation of program benefits, maintenance scheduling, warranty support, or repaint eligibility.

10. Scheduling, Delays, and Weather

Project schedules are estimates and may change due to weather, jobsite conditions, customer delays, material availability, crew availability, change orders, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our control.

Exterior painting and maintenance are especially dependent on temperature, moisture, rain, wind, drying conditions, surface condition, and manufacturer requirements. Lightmen Painting may delay or reschedule work when conditions are not suitable.

We are not responsible for delays caused by weather, unsafe access, customer unavailability, third-party contractors, tenants, property managers, suppliers, permitting delays, inspections, emergencies, or other events outside our reasonable control.

11. Change Orders and Additional Work

Any work outside the approved written scope may require a change order, revised estimate, additional payment, or written approval before proceeding.

Additional work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Extra prep

  • Additional coats

  • Color changes

  • Product changes

  • Wood repair

  • Rot repair

  • Drywall repair

  • Caulking beyond the original scope

  • Stain blocking

  • Moisture-related repair

  • Access equipment

  • Tenant coordination

  • Rework caused by customer changes

  • Work requested after substantial completion

Lightmen Painting is not required to perform additional work unless both parties agree to the added scope and pricing.

12. Payments, Deposits, Invoices, and Collections

Payment terms will be stated in the applicable estimate, invoice, proposal, service agreement, shop checkout page, program agreement, or written communication.

Deposits, progress payments, final payments, recurring program payments, or digital product payments may be required. Failure to pay may result in delayed scheduling, paused work, cancellation, suspension of services, loss of program benefits, collection activity, late fees where permitted by law, or other available remedies.

Customers agree to pay all approved charges, applicable taxes, processing fees, collection costs, chargeback costs, attorney fees, or other amounts permitted by law and associated with unpaid balances.

13. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Cancellation and rescheduling terms may vary by service, project, inspection, digital product, course, or program agreement.

Lightmen Painting may charge cancellation fees, retain deposits, or adjust scheduling priority where a customer cancels, delays, denies access, changes scope, or reschedules after crew time, materials, administrative work, or calendar space has been reserved.

Digital products, downloadable files, courses, templates, SOPs, bundles, and similar online purchases may be non-refundable once purchased, delivered, downloaded, accessed, or emailed, unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated in writing.

14. Warranties and Satisfaction Guarantee

Lightmen Painting may offer workmanship warranties, satisfaction commitments, program benefits, or project-specific warranty terms. Warranty coverage, duration, exclusions, claim process, and remedies will be controlled by the written warranty, estimate, invoice, service agreement, or program agreement applicable to the project.

General website references to warranties, satisfaction guarantees, durability, lifespan, maintenance value, or expected performance are not unlimited guarantees. Paint and coating performance depends on surface condition, preparation, product selection, moisture, weather exposure, building movement, customer maintenance, previous coatings, and other conditions.

Unless stated otherwise in writing, warranties do not cover:

  • Customer-caused damage

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Moisture intrusion

  • Rot, mildew, mold, or pest damage

  • Structural movement

  • Substrate failure

  • Previous coating failure

  • Failed caulking or materials not installed by Lightmen Painting

  • Damage from landscaping, sprinklers, pressure washing, abrasion, pets, tenants, or other trades

  • Work outside the written project scope

  • Customer-selected products used against recommendation

  • Failure to maintain the property

  • Acts of God, severe weather, or casualty events

Warranty remedies are limited to repair, touch-up, or correction of covered workmanship issues, as determined by Lightmen Painting.

15. Online Shop, Digital Products, Courses, SOPs, and Templates

Lightmen Painting may sell or provide digital products, downloadable resources, homeowner painting courses, contractor SOPs, bundles, checklists, templates, construction technology resources, automation blueprints, merch, tools, or other shop items.

Digital products are provided for educational, operational, or informational purposes. They do not guarantee business results, project results, code compliance, legal compliance, financial outcomes, safety outcomes, customer satisfaction, profitability, or suitability for every situation.

You are responsible for adapting any SOP, template, course, checklist, automation resource, or instructional material to your own laws, project conditions, safety requirements, business operations, licensing obligations, insurance requirements, and professional standards.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, purchase of a digital product grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal or internal business use only. You may not resell, redistribute, publicly post, copy, sublicense, repackage, or claim ownership of Lightmen Painting digital products or materials.

16. Affiliate Links, Product Recommendations, and Third-Party Products

Use of our educational content is at your own risk.

18. Client Portal, Scheduling Platforms, and Third-Party Services

Lightmen Painting may use third-party platforms for scheduling, estimates, invoices, payments, client portals, forms, email, text messages, reviews, analytics, file storage, automation, or customer communication.

Your use of third-party platforms may be subject to those providers’ own terms and privacy policies. Lightmen Painting is not responsible for third-party platform outages, errors, payment processing delays, data handling, account issues, or service interruptions beyond our control.
